This mask, which has been extensively published, first appeared  in Europe in the 1980s as part of a Paris exhibition.  It bears stylistic links to the objects discussed in this article, as it may represent the lata (the idiot),  a character that appears both in shamanic rituals and in masked dances.  Wood and kaolin.
