Fig. 10 : This female sculpture comes from the Mberidi tribe of the Belanda. It was collected about twenty years ago, and the damage visible on it was caused by the civil disturbances associated with the Muslim occupation. Its impressive size is intensified by powerful thighs, broad square shoulders, the upright bearing of the body and the aggressiveness emanating from the open mouth.
