Navajo, circa 1900-1910, 51 x 32 inches Private collection, Santa Fe Pictorial double saddle blankets are extremely rare, and this blanket is the only example I've seen with full-fledged horse pictorials. The elaborate border, the variegated gray field and the superb rendering of each horse suggests that the weaver of this blanket was capable of doing whatever she pleased at the loom. |
